5/25/06 - BAND PRACTICE BROKE UP BY PAINESVILLE'S FINEST! - At 10:20 PM halfway through BE THERE by Keith Urban we had flash lights shinning through the window.  We were instructed to the front door where we asked the two uniformed gentlemen if they were here to sing.  They thought that was mildly amusing and stated that, although we sounded pretty good, we had noise compliants  from a neighbor and had to either turn it way down or quit playing.  We had beer left, so we quit playing and quietly chugged down another case and a half of Miller Lite.  If Ed's mom is reading this, he really wasn't drinking. (yeah right!)

5/27/06 - HID PLAYED TARISA'S BIRTHDAY PARTY - We'd like to thank Missy and Tarisa for having us over to play.  We had a blast and can't wait to do it again next year if you'll have us.  Super-mega thanks for the tent, the shade was a blessing.  We love you guys ! Photos from the party are posted on our photos page.  Please check 'em out.

6/6/06 - HID Adds new member! - Martin Kavick joined the posse as a rhythm guitarist and vocalist.  Martin has never played in a country band either so he is a perfect fit.  He'll be jammin with us Saturday June 10th at our 1st show so make sure you come check him out!

6/8/06 - BAND PRACTICE BROKE UP BY PAINESVILLE'S FINEST AGAIN! - We'd like to thank our neighbors for their support; at least we know you're listening! This time we were broke up at about 9:50 PM.  Just for the record, since our 1st visit from the police on 5/25 we've cut band practice off at 10:00 PM every night out of respect for our neighbors.  I guess that wasn't good enough.

6/10/06 - HID PLAYED KATIE'S PUB - Holy cow what a night ! !  We'd like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the band - It was a packed house all the way 'till last call.  We'd especially like to thank Vicki for busting her butt and Tarisa and Char for helping her out.  The drinks were flowin all night long!  We need to give a huge HID shout out to Rob for being the band photographer for the night.  You can see his handy work on our photos page.  Rob was hanging from the ceiling risking life & limb to get the great shots that he did.  You Rock Rob !  Thanks Char for letting us bring out train wreck to Katie's & we'd love to play there again if you'll have us.

7/1/06 - HID PLAYED THE WILLOWICK RESTAURANT & LOUNGE - We had a great time with Anna and her crew.  The Willowick is a beautiful place with tons of room and great food all night long.

7/8/06 - HID PLAYED THE END OF ALIMONY PARTY - Tam & I would like to thank for guys for jammin at our party that has been a loooooooooong time comin!  Guys - if you're paying alimony just know there is an end.  We went through two kegs of frosty Miller Lite and the party was kept super safe by our local Painesville Police Department who checked on us throughout the night (three separate times!)  We'd also like to thank Jay Heckman (super awesome Tool drummer) for filling in for Don that night.  Don was stuck in a purgatory of cardboard as he moved his family into their new home.  Congrats Don!!  So to wrap up this update I'd like to quote a good friend of mine, "Alimony is like buying oats for a dead horse."  Come check out HID again at Katies 7/15 ! ! ! !

7/15/16 - HID PLAYED KATIE'S PUB - Many thanks to everyone who came out again to Katie's to rock with us.  We had a great time (and extra room thanks to Char moving the pool table for us!)  We look forward to rocking our home bar again real soon.  Thank you & don't forget to check out the pictures (July Katies Pics on the nav bar).

10/14/06 - HID PLAYED THE CONVERSATION STATION! - WOW what a blast!  The Conversation Station in Orwell held a 36 hour fund raiser to try and keep their beautiful center free for all the kids who attend.  We had kids & grown ups dancing & a Hillbilly In Denial first - and all kids shaker crew!  They did great!  Go check out the photos page and see all the fun.  There is also information there on how you can make a donation to help all the great folks out there keep the center running for the kids.  They were a great group of people and we were proud to be a part of the fun!

11/1/06 - BAND PRACTICE BROKEN UP YET AGAIN!!!! - Well........ We figured we could sneak in one more song before we quit, but then.... at 9:05 PM......knock knock at the door!  Mr. Painesville is at the door.  We had to shut it down.  We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Carol, our wonderful neighbor, who has done so much for the band.  All we want to do is be able to go out and give people a good time and apparently...... there are people in this world who despise good times.  Anyway.  We're cutting down a tree on Sunday if you want to come over for the tree party!  Rock on & Yee Haw!!!!!!!!!!!

12/2/06 - HID PLAYED HACKER'S PUB - We cracked up when we pulled into Hacker's and on the marquee was "TONGIHT - HILLBILLIES IN DENIAL! (NO JOKE!)" We're not really sure if Highland Hts was ready for us or not, but they want us back so we'll be there again in February!

12/13/06 - BAND PRACTICE BROKE UP AGAIN!!!!!! - Have we mentioned there is a new tenant in the in the rental house next door?  Have we mentioned they HATE country music?  This is borderline stupid.  I would like to mention though that the Painesville police have been amazingly professional each and every time they've been here for noise violations.  If anyone has any ideas on a resolition for our Hatfield & McCoy relationship with our neighbor, please email us at bobbyjoe@hillbilliesindenial.com .

12/16/06 - HID PLAYED KATIE'S PUB! - It was great to be home again!  A big HID Yee Haw goes out to Danice for taking 2 memory cards full of amazing pictures!  We'd also like to thank the guys Cowboy from Finding Mary for sitting in with us on a song - you rock!  Of course we'd like to thank all our great fans for partying with us all night long and thank Vicki and Kristine for keeping cold beers in front of everyone all night!  It was a GREAT TIME!!!!

3/20/07 - Band practice interupted AGAIN! ! - It was 8:20 PM & we hear banging on the door (which was wierd because the cops know to come to the window on the side of the house).  I opened up the door expecting the police & this mountain of a bearded man in a carhart was standing before me.  He introduced himself as Jim & said most people call him "Chewbacca"!  Now I was scared !  He said he was walking by and heard us jammin & he just had to stop and say it sounded awesome!  Pretty cool.  Hey Chewy - We hope to see you this Saturday at Katie's !  Yee Haw - that was a 1st !

8/25/07 - HID Played McTaggart's - WOW !  I can't believe I haven't put any updates here in a LONG time !  Lets see... what's happened?  Well, Marty, Tam & I drove to North Carolina for an out of state gig.  My sister Joann got married - Tam was in the wedding & Marty & I played & sang "Time in a bottle" while Joann walked down the isle.  We took July off for band vacations.  Tam is now pregnant !  We'll keep you posted with baby updates as we get 'em.  We've played a bunch of shows & had a lot of fun !  Last night we had a great gig at McTaggart's.  We had a video camera runnin so hopefully it came out well enought to slap some video footage up on the site.  We'll see.  Any way - YEE HAW !

10/14/07 - HID Adventure - Well, we were supposed to play a double header yesterday, but due to some scheduling conflicts we ended up with an open night.  We played our day time gig at Conversation Stations's 2nd annual fund raiser yesterday and had a blast !  As of the time we were packing up they were at $12,000 ! ! ! ! !  Great job everybody !  Thanks Kevin & Adam for being our roadies yesterday !  After that without a nighttime gig to play we went out on an adventure.  We ran over to Creek Side Inn for a couple of beers and some awesome food !  We scoped out where we were setting up next week for their halloween party party then we shot from Orwell over to Montville to see our friends Unleashed rock out The Outpost.  They sounded awesome ! Don almost beat me in pool, but 45 minutes later I finally sank the eight ball!  Whew !  After listening to Unleashed we shot over into Mentor to see Andy's Last Band jam at the Stadium Grill.  It was great seeing a group of folks having that much fun playing music for everyone !  We've just recently had the pleasure of hooking up with these guys (& Gal !) and I think we're headed down the road for a long friendship.  Oh - Baby update !  ITS A GIRL ! ! !  Zoë Marcia Kuhn !  Due date is still 2/6/08 - we'll keep ya posted.  All we know is we're in trouble.  As soon as Unleashed cranked up last night, Baby Zoë was dancin around in there like crazy !  Yee Haw !

10/20/07 - HID Played Creek Side ! - Our 1st time out at Creek Side and man what a time we had ! ! ! ! They had a Halloween party to remember ! (Or not remember depending on whether or not you were doing the Jell-o shots they were sellin !) Thanks Joe for havin us out ! To the guys who ended up in the bar fight - next time wait for the right song !  You were one song early !  Our next one was "Kick my ass" by Big & Rich !

10/22/07 - Zoe update - Zoe isn't a Zoe !  Hmmm..... Now that we've bought pink blankets, curtains, hats & clothes we find out ITS A BOY !  We were thinking Ian (of course named after Scott Ian, guitar player for Anthrax) but now we're not sure.  Any suggestions would be appreciated !

10/27/07 - HID Played McTaggart's Halloween Party ! - Holy Cow ! What a party at McTaggart's ! ! ! ! Thanks Dan & Dawn for having us back out ! We had an absolute blast ! Special thanks to Jackers for takin a bunch of great pictures !

11/3/07 - HID Played Katie's - Happy Birthday Heather ! What a party we had at Katie's ! ! !  Thanks to eveyone who cam out to wish Heather a happy 22nd !  Yee Haw !  Thanks also to Butch from Finding Mary for sitting in with us on a song !

12/18/07 - A Hillbilly Year In Review - I've been terrible with the updates and for that I apologize.  I wanted to take a minute and just thank everyone for a great 1st full year for the band.  Its been a wild ride and we're stayin' on it !  This year we've met a lot of great people in the local music scene  - we've forged a lot of new friendships and continued some old ones.  All the bands and establishments have battled the smoking ban this year.  I'm not going to ramble on about this because I could for hours !  I will say that I remember (and miss) a time when it wasn't illegal to make bad decisions.  I don't want to smoke in restaurants, but I sure do miss my smokey old bars.  Maybe my stance would be different if our gigs were still packed to the walls with non-smokers, but now we get to watch the bars empty out while everyone (including the bartenders) go outside while we're inside playing to no one.  Cleveland has always been know for GREAT live music & its sad to see that more and more bars can no longer afford to pay bands due to decreased cutomers direcly related to the smoking ban.  It sucks.  Give me back my smokey old bars and trans fat !

Moving on....... Thanks to Mark (the old owner of the North Coast Voice) and the new owners Jim & Sage for helping a new band of misfits try and get their message out to the masses.  You guys are all great.  Thaks to all the established bands who have, on their nights off, come out to see the Hillbillies.  We've had everyone from Finding Mary sit in with us at one point or another - John from Unleashed, Jay (Formerly of Ripped) & Jim from Rebound.  We've had Andy from Andy's Last Band at a gig or two - Jim Powel from Stone Pony, Ty from the Underground Nation.  The list goes on & on.  Thanks guys for your support.

Of course - we'd all like to thak the pubs that have had us & keep having us back !  Char from Kaites, Dan & Dawn over at McTaggart's, Tony & Phil-J at the Highwater, Patrick & Mike over at Lake Dine & Dance, Frankie out at Scalper's, Mike at Cabanas, Ronnie at Hacker's, Sharron & Brad over at the Painesville Moose, Melanie & Missy for getting out at Spuddy's, Jim & Jan for having us at the Outpost & Joe for having us at Creekside.  We also can't forget all the kids & all the great adults who run the Conversation Station !  We've played their tele-thon two years in a row & we've never had a better time without beer !

Its been a crazy year and no one would have ever predicted that Tam would have to sit out for a few months because she was pregnant !  That 1st show without her was ROUGH ! Partly because she sings a lot of songs now & we had to fill a lot of time, but mostly because she adds an energy to the band that just isn't there without her.  Music has been in my soul since I was brought onto this spinning rock.  That fact that I share the stage with my wife, soul mate & best friend is the greatest thing in the world.  Thank you Tam for making me the luckiest guy in the world.  I can't wait to pass the gift of music down to our son.

Speaking of being the luckiest guy in the world - I coulnd't have stumbled into a better bunch of band mates !  Ed, Don & Marty - thanks for making this as fun as it should be.  I've been in a lot of bands over the years and this is the best group of guys & (gal) I've ever had the pleasure to play with.  You've all put up with my musical inadeqacies and allowed me to make up for them with showmanship.  You bought into a concept of a band that was non-traditional to say the least and you all live it & breath it every day.  I'm proud of what the five of us have been able to accomplish and I can't thank you all enough.

Anyway - Thanks for reading my rambling thouhts if you made it down this far & if you're reading this you are probably one our our fans that we call friends.  You follow us around from bar to bar and SOCIAL us into comas every chance you get.  A HUGE Hillbilly YEE HAW to everyone who folllows us around.  You all have given us the confidence to push this thing to each new level we've achieved !  I know this sounds stupid & cliche, but thaks to all the fans !  We couldn't have done it without you !

YEE HAW ! ! ! !

12/21/07 - Marty & Jason interviewed on WKKY ! - Well - I was picking up our 2007 Tour T-Shirts and Marty was shopping & drinking.  He sent me a text saying that WKKY was broadcasting live at Mentor Mitsubishi.  We met up over there hoping to maybe get to talk about our show tomorrow at McTaggart's.  We cruised in - found Hoss (Great guy !) and David Cevasco (Great guy !) and got to chatting about music, the band & everything else.  Next thing ya know - Hoss throws us on the air for a live interview !  What a surprise !  Thanks Hoss for the air time and thanks David for letting us mooch on your gig for a minute (or 5) !  You guys are both a great !  Hope to see you tomorrow night !

12/27/07 - Ian Charles Kuhn was born Thursday the 27th at 7:11 PM. He's 5lb 2 oz, 18.5" long & doing ok. He's on oxygen and they expect him to be at the hospital at least another week. Mom is doing great and should be out Sunday. She got to hold him for the 1st time this morning. I'll put a couple pics up on our myspace page - we'll have some better ones soon !

12/31/07 - Tam was discharged today !  Ian will be about another week.  He's off the oxygen & eating regular formula now !  Go Ian !!!!  Happy New Year !

1/5/08 - Ian comes home ! ! Ian got to come home Saturday night and he's doing GREAT !  Click here to see some Ian montster pics !  Welcome home buddy !

2/16/08 - Tam rejoins the band ! - Thank God she's back from maternity leave !!!!!!!!  Marty & I just can't sing Carrie Underwood !  She had her 1st show back at The Wagon Wheel and did a great job !  Welcome back Baby !

6/26/08 - Slackin on the updates ! - Hi, it's Marty & Jason! We just killed a case of Miller Lite & just wanted to catch up with y'all!  2008 has been a GREAT year so far and we have all our faithful Hillbillies to thank for it. Baby Ian is growing like a weed, Jim & Miss Charlotte had two beautiful twins, Evan & Olivia, and Ed narrowly escaped death on his hog! Don has developed a roto-tom fixation, we can't wait to hear what he pulls out next! This year to date, we've learned about 20 new songs, most of which you'll hear us play live. We'd like like to thank all of our Hillbillies (old & new) who keep coming out to hear us, you guys & gals are the best we could ask for! Thanks also to the bar owners who keep having us back, and also to the new friends we've made: Sam & Tommy's, Stadium Grille, Ashtabula Eagles, Lake Village Campground, etc.... Last but not least, a special YEE HAW! to Hoss from WKKY 104.7 for his support. What an honor it is to make music for y'all!!! God bless each & every one of you, and we promise, you ain't seen nuthin' yet!!!!!

7/19/08 - HID Parties with Deadliest Catch star Captain Jonathan Hillstrand of the Time Bandit ! - YEEE HAAAW !!!!!! We were all bummed out because the weather gods put us inside at Sam & Tommy's, but our crazy Hillbillies came out in force anyway ! The coolest part about it is our newest HID fan came out - Captain Jonathan Hillstrand of the Time Bandit with his own "crew". Now when we watch Deadliest Catch we can smile even bigger knowing just how cool some of the cast really is. Thanks Captain Jonathan for rockin with the Hillbillies all night long ! May you always have safe trips & great fishing !!!
